xt6003 clutch

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum so please be gentle......anyway I currently have a '98 tt600r belgarda, absolutely love it - coming from predominantly 1000cc+ 4 cylinder bikes it was a refreshing change to jump onto a single and I find I'm having a lot more fun. I just bought a 2001 xt600e - once again love the bike....but I find the clutch extremely heavy...a lot heavier than the tt600r. The bloke that owned the bike before said that heavy duty clutch springs were fitted. But my question is do heavy duty springs make that much of a difference or are the xt600e just heavy in the clutch department??

I dont think its heavy, but compared to a hydraulic solution like the streetbike, it takes more force. Heavy duty clutch springs is usually around 20-25% stiffer, you wont need 'em on a xt600 thats not heavely tuned.

So perhaps swap back, and lube up your cable, and make sure theres no kinks/sharp bends in the way the cable is routed.

thankyou for your input, I agree....looking at getting original Yamaha springs and replacing the cable and se how I go.

No its pretty easy clutch, cant compare to the old Kawa z1300...

The heavy springs do nothing for a stock or close to stock bike, just adds stiffness to the lever. Now if your going to do a bunch of modding and run deep knobby tire in mud and such, then the heavy springs may be good.
