XT600 - A good first bike to N Africa????

Hi,

In my "teens" I used to ride a Honda 50. Then bought a car and never ride a bike again for 8 years. I have a 4x4 car and make a lot of off-roading here, in Portugal, and in North África (Morocco, Mauritânia) whenever I have the chance.

Now I want to make this trips with a bike and thought of the XT600, as it is known (at least here in Portugal) by its reliability. Also, it seems smaller and not so heavy has an Africa Twin, for example.

My question is: is a XT 600 a good first bike for a rookie like me, or should I buy something smaller, like a 350 or 400? Remember I've only ride small bikes many years ago!

Thanks and regards,

NCR

XT600 is [perfect, but take your time to practise before you go to the desert!
