Spitfire screen fitment

The screen mounts on the bars as in the pics with no other mounting points as the XT's XR's etc are hardly rocket ships! The clamp opens up to 25-26mm so should easily fit around the cranked part of the bar.

Spitfire screen fitment

I just tried the clamps on my XT bars and they fit nicely around the cranked part of the bar. Hope that helps.

I use the same screen as TedMagnum. My mounts are placed on the flat portion of the bar between to 2 mounting points. It's a tight fit but it won't move. Either my bar is non stock or TM's is non stock. My right hand controls won't allow the screen to be mounted at that location.

cheers

Hey

My bars "Were" stock and the screen fitted ok. I had the clamps mounted just after the S-bend in the bar. I had to wrap some insulating tape under the clamp as it was a bit lose where I had it.

Unfortunatly, when I swapped to Renthal Twinwall bars and fitted my handguards, there was simply no space on the bars to accomodate the screen.

TM..any chance of a pic downward showing the right hand mount? On mine the master cyclinder interferes slightly not allowing the clampy part to work properly.

Thats the only pic i have im afraid. Iv since removed the screen and changed bars.

Have you tried moving your whole throttle and brake assembley around a bit. I had to tape the bar a little for a tight fit too as its right on the bend.

Just keep all the fixings VERY lose when fitting and it will all wobble together eventually.

I left the grips where they were but moving them could be an option. I think the screen is secured just fine at least for now.

As long as it doesnt wobble about in the wind then its fine.

I originally had it where you do but the screen wasnt high enough for my preference.

Still, i dont have one at all now :(

looked at from all angles!

I've looked at my bars from all directions and I am not going to get a screen onto this particular barset; as mentioned earlier they may be cut down by some previous owner (or non-standard after market) and the whole length of the bars is very "crowded"; even around the middle which has a clamp "brace" underneath and between the two usual clamp fixing points which almost touches the yoke.

I have even figured out how to get smaller JPEGs out of my camera, but even the smallest available setting is not small enough for the limits on this website and I have no idea how to compress them further, so loading pics has failed again!

Re:Spitfire screens

Hi There Alflow
Think this reply might be a bit out of date and i can't send you a p.m. but do you have any of the spitfire screens left and how much were you asking for them, also wherabouts in wilts are you?
Thanks
vaughan

I had a Spitfire-type universal screen on for a short time - difficult to mount on the handlebars due to all the other "stuff" and the 2-point mount allowed too much flex in the system so the screen continually needed repositioning. I've since obtained another universal which I'm going to try "reversed" - i.e., upside down with the wider part on top and the narrower part against the "number plate" above the headlight. I've also seen where some have adapted the windscreen from a BMW R1100GS (the one with the rectangular headlight). I've also seen this screen for the XT225s - Turbo City - Rock-It Parts but $180 USD is too steep for me to experiment.
