XT600-43F Coil Retrofit
 

Bike: xt600 43F - 1984

Hi all,

I have a problem where the HT lead from my coil is wrecked and leaking spark to the head.

Am looking to swap out my original coil [single orange wire with chassis frame ground] with a newer two spade/input coil.

I am under the assumption that the coil has two inputs - ground & spark signal.

Am i correct in saying the the two spade coil is the exact same so grounding out one terminal will serve the same purpose?

Am very afraid of messing up the CDI....

Any opinions appreciated am planning a trip over the weekend :scooter: and would like to get this sorted.

I bought a 2 spade coil from ebay for my 43F. It was along time ago but IIRC it wouldn't fit between the tank and the frame. I lost hope at that point so I didn't try relocating it. You might want to check before going too far...

Hey, cheers for the heads up.

I have a new coil already so have decided that since the old one is ok apart from the lead, im going to bodge the new lead to the old coil.

Had it out at the weekend - pretty scary when it hits a flood
