Xt-tastic !

OMG ! wot a difference. Firstly the piperex foam filter ,on 2 months , def throatier and perhaps a tad quicker BUT at a steady 3000rpm, in 3rd ,seemed to "hunt" if u know what i mean. Now a quick 100m round trip from Bideford to Exeter today with new QUILL T3 can bolted on last night and joy has returned all round. wot a difference!! sounds great and not too noisy , big grunts at low revs , def inc acceleration and no "hunting." Purrfect !
awful brakes next mission ! XT6e (2003):D

Thanks for posting

Did you rejet? Did you pull the snorkel out of the airbox? Will the engine pull higher RPM’s or is the powerband similar in length?

Jens Eskildsen 15 Oct 2009 20:08

When my bike was stock, i removed the snorkel on top of the air filter box, and removed the "db"killer in the stock exhaust.

The following dynorun showed perfect fuel to air ratio, and 34,6hp on the real wheel (with 60.000km)

So i wouldnt bother to much thinking of a rejet.

Quill T3

thanks
Jim from QUILL said " no need to re-jet" so i didnt. He was right. This was a good thing cos i cant !
first MPG estimate = 55
range for factory can 52-60 mpg so am pleased.
powerband ? same for 1st and 2nd gears. 3rd and 4th much better. on 100 mile trip on mainly national speed limit roads hardly had to change up to 5th and was making v good progress.
now can bock along at 2.5K revs through town/village without engine hunting and sound of can is deep, slow and pleasing and not i assume too disturbing for residents.
so far so good.
BTW. new screen brill too !

Hi jonnyqq,

What screen have you fitted? From your comment, it appears to do the job well.

Cheers

Many thanks for the link. As you say, a bit pricey, but if it does the business ....

Cheers
