XT 600 with an XT 500 (24kW) engine

Hello to all XT lovers,

I am about to buy an enduro in February, and I have decided to buy an XT as I have heard only good things about this bike. I am a beginner rider, so I do not want to buy a "big" version as a start (later definitely !!!).
I was offered a bike that rose my attention right away: it is an XT500, manufactured in '90, but built into the framework of the '90 XT600.
All papers of the bike seem to be OK, I have seen it too (it looks beautiful) however, I have nout found anything about this bike.

I need some help - has any of you EVER heard of such a bike, and if yes, can you tell me where I can find the specs (or a technical manual would be even better) of this baby ?

Thanks,

Greenpub

I have an Israeli couple visiting at the moment who have one back in Tel Aviv (1995 model). Email me for their email details. They are currently touring NZ and will leave for OZ mid Feb. They may be able to answer your questions.

As far as I know ...there was a version of XT for the Austrian market with standard 4-Valves "downbored" to 500 cc , this was made for fiscal/permit issues ...the bike was more or less like the 600 standard, exept for less power ..

I also have seen some XT500 with seat, tank and lights of XT600 , but are easy to discern them , the XT500 has an "old style" round -shaped cylinder instead of the newer squared of 600 , also on 500 the spark plug is on the side of the head , in 600 at center

Roger, Giorgio, thanks for your feedback.
Probably Giorgio you're right, since the bike (as I have found out recently) has been imported from Austria some years ago.
Bottom line for me is: I am about to buy an XT600 with a 100ccm smaller engine.

Thanks,

Green
