Put the engine back in the frame after soda blast and high temp paint, i think it look good:D,
So that's it work is over now, just need to connect electrics, oil line, carbs and starter and exhaust

Here is what I've done:

FRAME
Frame sanded and painted,
New fork seals and spring, new fork gaiter
Head bearings,
Swing arm bearing rebuilt,
Rear shock rebuilt and polish,
Loom wire refurbished,
New tube, tyres, brakes pads, brake disc, brake line,
New hand grips,
Starter motor rebuild and polish,

ENGINE,

Cylinder head port and valves cleaning, new valves seals,
I had changed ,timing chain, and piston rings at 50 k already
Head pipes, rust removed and polished,
New Leo Vince silencer

Cost around 1500 euros! which is what I would get for a used xt, but mine will be "like new"

Will post more pics soon.

Can't wait to ride it again!

Avon distanzia they tend to lasts for 30000 km or so for m.e.anyway

BlackDogZulu 8 Apr 2013 03:47

Heh. My Distanzias are totally shot at 4k :)

That's some nice work. I would be interested to see more pics, as I am about to start something similar on my XT600E, and trying to do as much for myself as I can. Did you take the engine apart for the soda blasting, or was it all done in one piece?

Sorry, wasn't clear with my question. Did you have the engine dismantled to be blasted, i.e. cases, cylinder, head etc separately, or was it blasted as a 'whole' engine? Just thinking that would be a heck of weight to put into a blasting cabinet :)

gwel 9 Apr 2013 20:03

ah ok, well yes the whole engine was soda blasted...I only removed the head at som stage to do the port as well... heavy yes to carry around from the various location I could say it was a blasting cabinet though...
