XT 600 Rear Shock? 84 Model
 

Happy New Year!! Anybody using a aftermarket shock on there XT600? My bike is a 84 model 43f. Looking it Hagon any good? Thanks BIG ED XT&TT 600 FAN!:scooter:

Why not swap in a TT600 shock and swingarm linkage?

I have a TT600 for 2nd bike. In my state i can not get a plate to ride on the road. My XT has a legal plate on the back. I have look it putting the rear shock and swingarm on the xt. I do not thinks it a bolt and unbolt deal. I had a 86 XT600 with a Works Shock on it. Great Ride. Sold it, to put tires on my work truck!:mad2:

I have put Wilbers shocks on my XT600E 2001. See below pictures. The black one is the old one, the blue one is the new Wilbers.

I choosed Wilbers because I realised to late for my Island trip, that the standard shocks wouldn't do with all the luggage petrol and spare tires through the rivers. My first choice where WP shocks. But because of the time limit and WP couldn't deliver in time, I choosed Wilbers. The hydraulic pre-load adjuster can be used to change road and load conditions of the bike. Unfortunately I choose a to soft spring. So almost of the time I drive with the hydraulic pre-load adjuster to its maximum. Have to change that some day. The Wilbers are excellent. They survived the water and sand and bad roads on island with havy luggage. The bike is much higher on its feed then with the original shock.

The only problem I had was that the top of the shock is a tiny bit to wide!? Because of that, the top end of the shock has to press between the two air intake pipes to the carbs. So theoraticly, when there is sand between them, al small hole can puncture the intakes so sand and water can get into the engine. But the shock doesn't realy move at the top, and no hole has been seen yet ... anybody else with the same problem?

On my other bike a installed Hagons.

Unfortunately after a short while one of the shock broke!

It was stuck. But Hagon replaced the shock whith no problems! After that no problems with the Hagons. Still work good after many many miles.
