XT 600 FRAME FILTER & chain rollers

hello all, can you get the frame oil filter out without removing the headers on a xt600e 1996 year. my header nuts look pretty stuck but i figured id leave them alone. also does any one know the dimensions of the 2 chain rollers for the above bike.:thumbup1:

hi
in theory, with oem headers, you might be able to access that filter, if you'll remove engine protector and that bracket connecting frame and engine there.
never attempted to do it with the engine on but clue is that it might be easier to try when the bike is either horizontal or high enough on the stand. it might be tightened pretty hard there...

as for chain rollers, i'm running them modified (outer surface made from polyurethane rod) already for years. but remember duplicating the dimensions of oem ones - 25mm width and 30mm o.d.

hi, the engine stay will not come off with the headers fitted to the bike it wont go over the oil outlet at the bottom of the frame.
Thanks for the roller size, ive found some apico items at 32 mm.

I am hoping so, ive tried to remove the frame stay to do the filter but never thought to just try and get in there with it loosened.
