XT 600 Frame/Chassis

Hello everyone,
I'm A new guy here and have a question about frames. I have a 1989 XT600 and I'm looking for a bare frame/chassis with a clean title.
I have a question, what year frames will fit my 1989 parts. I want to just swap frames so I can put it on the road. My bike does not have a title and I'm at a dead end trying to find the last person who had the title.

Thanks for any help.

'84-89 are the kickers here in the states . Good luck finding one with a title, I've been asking every Ebay seller as they post a frame for a title and there is seldom one with a title. I have gotten 2 though that way in the last year and a half. I had to get an E start frame just to find a title this last time, but I have a correct motor for it, yours wouldn't work well in one of those.

Yes I've been looking around on the web with not luck so far. I live in the states also.
I just picked up this bike last week, it has not been run for a couple of years.
Just cleaned the carb today and fires up in two kicks, the only problem it has now it will not shift out of first gear. you have to grab the shifter and yank it up to put it back in neutral. seems easier if the engine is shut off. the owner before me said it shifted when he parked it.

Sounds like the clutch may be dragging or the transmission is gummed up some. I'd put new oil in it and run it around shifting as much as possible, getting the motor up to full temp for a while. It will probably return to normal as long as the guy was telling the truth. A half cup of automatic trans fluid will clean things up nicely(it's highly detergent). You will need to limit the miles and rpms with it in there and drain the oil again. Tranny fluid isn't the best lube for a motor but is ok in small amounts and limited time in.

As for the title , I have 2 bikes yet sitting here waiting for a titled frame. For some reason nobody titled these bikes and just lost them, pretty much impossible to track down the last owner that actually had the title. I think most were just to cheap to pay registration so they just cobbed a plate from another bike, or a lot of them were stolen.

I played around with it a little more, it is shifting a little better but still wants to hang up in 1st gear. I'll give a oil change and try it out.
Thanks for your help.

I found a 1984 frame with a title, but need to know for sure if all the parts from a 1989 will fit the 1984 frame? In another word, is the 1984 and the 1989 the same frame? I can not return it once I buy it.
Thanks for any help

Yup, it's the same frame , 1990 and up went to the E start and that frame is gey, the '89 and earlier are all red/red orange. Only real differences throughout the '80's are graphics and internal head bolt patterns on the motor itself in '88.

I have an 89 xt 600 that I was going to rebuild. However I may not have the time now. It has a clean title. Let me know if you need parts.

PM, (or email march70jeff@gmail.com) with what you'd want for the bare frame & title , Headlight & mount brackets, bash plate if you have it , tank scoops with the inner black pieces, carbs , airbox and cover if not broken. Some pics of the bike and parts

Will do! I've got the rest of the bike if anyone else is interested.
