XT 600 Fork Question

I need to replace the forks on my bike and had some questions about the options that I can choose from.

What I have found is that the 84-88, 89-91, and 92-95 forks are all 41mm, but what I can't figure out is what are the lengths of these forks and if there is any differences that would make one better than the other.

I appreciate the assistance,
James

'90-'95 are may be 43mm, they have shorter travel, and probably a better choice for a more street oriented bike. Also they come with 2 caliper brake calipers which are slightly stronger.

'84-'89 forks have longer travel, and probably a better choice for a bike that will see lots of off-road.

Since you'd also have to swap triples, and brake caliper, it may be cheaper to just stick with which ever you have.

Spam alert: I'm parting out 2 XT600s, so I have most of these parts available for sale - forks are on eBay, but ending soon with no bids...

I hope this helps, good luck!
Joe
