XT 600 facelifting bodywork ?

Hi I am considering getting a sensible Bike like an XT 600 instead of an hardcore WR 426 for cruising about on, a little green laning and exploring, I already own a YZ 250 for thrills but I was wondering are there any after market plastics available to jazz them up and make them a little more attractive like the YZ/WR's ?

I think they will be good road bikes with OK light off road use but they look a tad ugly and I don't really need the capability of a WR and the electric start on the XT is a deffo plus point.

Oh I do love the Classic styling of the old XT 500's and wouldn't want to modify one of them and have considered a tasty one of them as well but I think I will go for a more modern XT 600.

Be grateful for any replies.

My XT600 ('94, USA) is dark blue so I got a blue Acerbis Supermoto front fender (need some aluminum extensions between the fender and mount to allow for the wiring harness) and used Krylon blue plastic paint to re-coat a pair of black Acerbis bark busters (with extensions). I would have preferred a UFO Superbike strap-on low front fender but couldn't find one. I just didn't care for the OEM Yamaha "flag" handguards or the "duck bill" front fender. Looks much more modern now.

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah I don't doubt I could fit a YZ front mudguard I was thinking more of a back mudguard, they tend to be a bit more complicated and have to match up to the side panels and seat.

Well I guess there is no go on the aftermarket plastics then but still expect them to be a pretty versatile bike and good for cruising on.

Hi! So, has anyone found anything yet? I want to mod my bike plastics starting with the rear fender side panels and maybe the gas tank but only to match the side plastics..... Mine is a 1990 XT600E plus Kickstart :gunsmilie:

OK - here is a picture with the Acerbis front fender. Still have not mounted the Acerbis hand guards as I have not decided whether or not I also want to replace the original handlebars with ones from a KLR650 (as the originals have a welded-in weight at the ends precluding the Acerbis mounting insert). I actually re-mounted the OEM handguards after this picture.

I needed to put 4 aluminum 1/2" extenders between the fender and the mount to allow space for the wiring harness.

Hi. You could get an Acerbis fueltank and a new front fairing (the one with the light)...

You could also get a new rear mud guard..Not the fender but the license plate holder with the stop light... :thumbup1: There are also some Acerbis hand guards called MX flag light or something like that which I personally like!:cool4:

Take care
