xt 600 e 03 reg 12100 miles
 

since the engine was out at garage to fix front exhaust bolts it suddenly dies and is popping backfiring, noticed when stand down would sometimes stop so unplugged stand but then started ok when put in first dies.

tried putting original exhaust back on but still does the same

Sounds like theres a leak at the exhaust somewhere causing the popping/ backfiring. Cutting out when its put into gear might be one of the safety cutouts not working right. Side stand switch or clutch switch. I would start looking at these first. Good luck
