XT 600 1VJ Acceptable Geartrain Backlash?
 

Does any body know what is acceptable backlash as felt at the countershaft (the shaft with the front drive sprocket fitted to it). The same shaft has what appears to be 1mm of end play, seen at the the sprocket and the clutch pressure plate side of the motor. It's not the sprocket or its drive spline, the slack is between the counter shaft and the main gear shaft. It's about 20 degrees. There is no strange noise, no rough shifting and no jumping out of gear, just feels loose. Keep on riding or split the case? :confused1:
