What makes a XT not start? little fuel?

Hey guys!

I've been tried to kick my bike back to life...
My battery is toast.. it only holds about 0.15v lol

I've connected one of my boat's (100aH) battery with jumper cables to my battery and I was almost able to KICK-start it..

I think that with my battery being toast and since I'm afraid to connect the 100aH battery directly to the electrics without my battery it'll make something blowup therefore I haven't tried this...

Kicking her, she makes a very few little revs and dies won't even start per say...

Normally, with a stock XT with stock carbs what would be the cause?

I'm sure it has something to do with the raptor carburetor that I fitted.
It's either giving too much fuel or not enough fuel.

She's just a few kicks away from starting :scooter:
Haven't ride her in three years :(

?c?

You should be able to connect your battery direct, as long as its 12v no problem....
Is the plug wet, do you have a spark..... the usual stuff

Yeah I guess.. but I'm not too confortable with that and I'm not able to buy any expensive electronics right now.... :)

Hi! Managed to start kickstart her! YUPYYYYY

Lol..

Now I can tell all you guys..
The XT's with TCI will not start or keep running if you have a dead or no battery at all!

Then I disconnected the negative of the jumper cable and she just died lol
My stubborn dad was there and I've been telling him that the bike would not run unless it had a good battery which he didn't agree before at all lol I WIN :innocent:

Any way, I enrichened the fuel screw and it finally started with choke and no throttle but will not idle unless I gave and kept the throttle open.

She did backfire just one little bit when letting of the throttle..

Any pointers on what I should do to the carbs to keep the bike running without throttle?

go up on the jetting?

I've fitted 155/160 and have the stock enrichener jet (55 I think) and needle clip in the 4th groove

Any ideas?

The highest I can go is 160/165 and 5th groove in the needle as I don't have higher jets with me...

I've just fitted a lambdasensor on my bike, and even with needled and mainjet all stock/stock position, its rich at cruise and WOT.

The idle is spot on with a 50 idlejet (46 stock) and the co screw 4 turns (yeb) out.

So I actually have to lean out the needles and mainjet, from stock setting. (needles in the middle groove, and 13/120 mainjets) They ARE jetted fairly rich, i guess because they're aircooled, and back in the days when they were designed, there was no euro3 standard and such to overcome.

Mines a 2003 if you dont recall, and have airboxsnorkel removed, and installed a little mesh instead, pipercross airfilter, kedo oversize header, and laser produro exhaust.

I was like wtf when i first saw the numbers on the lambda-display, but tings like that dont lie.

Haha yeah..

My mechanic said he has those little instruments to check air fuel mixture and carb sync so in a couple of days hopefully I'll have things set..

I hope you guys won't laugh too much at this but...
Do ya know why it wasn't idling?

Because I forgot to adjust the throttle stop screw :D
It now idles perfectly fine eeeehawwww xD

I do however got a little oil leak from that metal oil line that is right between the back end of the e-start motor and the exhaust midpipe fitting...
Hopefully it's just the copper washer..

I cleaned everything up with airblast fuel-gun and when it dries I'm gonna check exactly where the leak is from and if it's the only one...
