What calipers fit?
 

Hi guys, finally managed to get my winter project running took the calipers off today with the intention of a strip and refurb only to find that they are both siezed and corroded beyond repair as well as both having the bleed nipples sheared off!:(

Does anyone know of any alternative calipers that fit the 90's XT600e?

Ive had a trawl round the forum but havent found a definative answer.
I understand that a DTR 125 rear caliper fits but cant find any mention of an alternative front caliper.

how alternative do you want to go cos there's supermoto disk and caliper kits if you want to go the bigger and better route :thumbup1:

Trying to keep the cost down so ideally looking for a set of used calipers from something that will bolt straight on

piston kit and new bleed nipples is probably your cheapest option.
there's loads of xt caliper's on flee bay

i know an R6 disc will go straight on the hub, but of course its a bigger diameter so any caliper you use, including either the XT or R6, will need an adaptor bracket. but that also means you can use any caliper you can get hold of cheap.

the early r6 disk will fit but you wont be able to use an r6 caliper:nono: it's too wide for a spoked wheel you still need a non opposed piston caliper

do the early model xt calipers fit the later models as there seems to be a lot of early calipers on ebay but not sure if they are interchangeable?

i think the early caliper will fit check for distance between holes on mounting bracket.
but it's only a single piston caliper so is a lot less effective much better to re-condition your old one.

unfortunatly one of the mounting points on the old front caliper has snapped off and the bleed nipple has also sheared off and the rear one has the piston completely rusted into place and the bleed nipple is siezed and rounded off and i cant get it out. Figured it would be a lot easier just to replace them.
