Urgent advise - XT660x oil leak

hi all,

Struggling here. Did an oil change last week. Over filled and had a leak from the dipstick - solved by draining a little oil - now indicating half full when hot - on run down to Devon and clearly still leaking oil, quite a bit it appears - again from the dipstick.

Any thoughts? Bleed the air? Worried :-/ quite a way to go yet.

Hi matt..

I would advise draining all your oil and starting again !!

You don't need to replace the oil btw !! Just drain it into a clean pan and see how much comes out (buy a large measuring jug).

What's the oil capacity ??? How much did you put in ??

If the book says 2.5l (for example), put 2L in then check the level using the book procedure. Top up a bit at a time until it's correct..

On my XT600, there was a bleed screw above the oil filter cap.. Is there one on the 660 ??

Also, check your air filter too. The engine can also overflow into there too from the crankcase breather.

Ted
