I have allway's used 10/40 oil but just noticed in the owners handbook it says to use 10/30...hmmm

10w40 is fine. 10w30 was normal at the time the manual was written, not much of that stuff is still around theese days.

I'verun 5w40 10w40 10w50 and 20w50 depending on the outside temperature, and depending on what was on sale that given day :D

You can still buy the 10W-30 if you want to go by Yamaha spec. Its not like the 10W-40 was not there 10years ago..

10/40 semi and new filter fitted this morning. Sounds quieter now.

If you have a TT engine that is quet its something wrong..

Yes if you dont have rattle noise from a engine like this you have problems, its better to have little noise from valves too.
