ttr600e fork seal change
 

After sorting the ignition lock issue whilst I'm waiting for the mot appointment I thought id better replace the leaking fork seal.

Any pointers?..is there a how too?/manual available?..

however the ttr600e fork have adjustment on the top of the forks and wanted to understand this before I took it apart.

found the links on here for manuals. One crashed my laptop and the other was/is a paid site.

General rule of thumb is to relieve all tension on the adjusters etc. As in, 'Wind them all out'

It also makes life a lot easier is you 'Crack off' the fork caps before removing them. It's not easy to do between your knees or in a vice. ;)

Also loosen the fork drain bolts before you take them off the bike. You could also drain them while they still on. Messier though.

Try to measure how much oil comes out of each fork leg. It might be useful.

Strictly speaking, it's good practice to service forks as a pair. In your case I'm guessing they're on original seals and oil so a good service on both of them is good going.

It shouldn't take you more than a few hours if you've got the tools and a work space.

A large vice with soft jaws is always handy when doing this job...

I've spent all summer replacing fork seals on BMW S1000's and Ohlins. I'm forked out :innocent:
