TTR 3AJ

I have just bought a 98 ttr600 belgreda has 3AJ stamped on engine Ive had the bike a couple of weeks and one of the exhust valves has hit the piston.I think my engine has a high lift cam.I am thinking I would be better to put a standered cam back inn would this be the same as a cam in any of the xt engines? can any one tell me where I can get one?any views about high lift cams in these engines? what differences between XT and TT engines?
Thanks John

Hmmm that does seem odd. 3AJ is an '88-'90 era XT engine. Very odd that a '98 bike should have an '88 engine?

Hi-lift cam should not hit the piston unless you were giving it a hard time at high rpm? (be honest).

Later model TT engines (such as the engine your should be) are narrower than XT engines.

All seems very odd...

nothing odd about it.
every xt-engine since 1988 is equipped with the 3AJ cylinder, also every tt model after 1992.
so, cylinders and -heads (2KF) are the same but differences are crankcase, gear ratio, camshaft etc.
