tt600r Knock

Under acceleration, low revs there is a knock which appears to be coming from top end? It passes as soon as the engine load decreases.
Has any one else with tt600r or similar experienced similar situation?
It is not a tappet noise.
Engine has 9000kms on it and has been maintained re specs.
Any info appeciated
Thankyou
Craig

Loose balance shaft/crank shaft nut? Supposed to be a common problem. And its all under the rhs engine cover

Is it defo a "knock" & not a "rattle".... I'm thinking it could be 'pinking'...

Craig43 12 Sep 2009 01:58

Yes it was "pinking", have changed to a higher octane, situation resolved.

Thank-you for your time.

Craig.

Hey... if you you're standing on the bike with the feet on the floor and the engine off, push your front suspension up and down hard...

My XT600E stock front suspension started making a "knock" sound when I hit a small bump on the road or when braking so I changed it...

It was when I made that same thing I said on the first phrase that I found out the noise was coming from the suspension and not the engine...

Hi , My TT600r also knocks at the top end, i did wonder if it was the little end bearings, i have disconnected the advance and retard unit which i would suspect it to knock if the octane rating is low, do you use super plus or a octane aditive, also have you also had teh ADV & REt unit disconnected.
Help is much appreciated, if it helps i have a parts list on PDF for the TTR.
Cheers mark

yes my retard is disconnected I am using a 95 octane has knocked the noise down but not out.
