TT600R for a TT600RE ?

I am a TT600RE owner, 03 reg, 16,000 km on the clock, in london UK.

I have the chance to change it with an older TTR, 1998, with just 11,000 km.
It appeals me because it's taller, with its ohlins shock, simplier, lighter (without battery).. and overall it just looks cooler...

any suggestion / opinion?
am I going to regret the electric start badly?

I know that many TTRE owners just swapped the shocks, but I am not a good mechanic and also can't find any spare shocks on the market.
i think it's easier for me just swap bike, although I'm a bit concerned about the pedal start...

thanks for reading ... any help welcome

you asked for an opinion

imho you're mad

which is is a good thing mind

change the shock

and yes, the first time you bruise your instep from repeated kicking, and fog up your visor while panting and breaking a sweat from the effort, and everyone else is enjoying your discomfort... you'll regret swapping cause the bike may be, but you aint cool.

:-)

go with your heart, it's all fun.

It depends on what kind of riding you are doing

That last post is a good un.
It summarises what you will experience, sooner or later, with the kicker.

After that, it depends, in part, on what sort of riding you are doing: imagine you are a dispatch rider on the streets of London, starting and stopping dozens of times per day - which would you rather own?

If you are not riding off-road then what is the real difference to you of the TTR's better suspension?

And, is it really 11000 kms on the 5 years older bike???????????? :rolleyes2: The speedo cable is the easiest thing on the bike to disconnect.

thank you

lol ...thanks guys for the honest opinions.
you are almost convincing me to go back to sanity, and keep my 2003 TTRE..

but i still will go to give it a try, and then decide.

I might buy it and keep it for spare parts, especially the shock, although it's a bit of a waste...

the shock

Unless u find someone that casually has one fresh serviced, still unused, TTR ohlins LIKE NEW, lying in his garage .

I had it serviced in september and never used, wanted to install on my tt350 but decided something less radical... No scratches, never used for offroad.
