tt600r down on power and running very lean

I had my bike checked on a dyno the other day. Ive had it a couple of months and done about 3000km on it.
It feels a bit lumpy and the fuelling not that smooth(hence the dyno check), but since ive never ridden another one i didn't know the difference.
The dyno showed it was only making 27.5bhp whereas standard tt600r's normally make about 37.5 on the same dyno.
Only mods that i know of are an arrow can i fitted.
The operator thinks the valve timing might be out by one tooth on the cam chain.
Any ideas before i delve into the engine?

Extra Info: Its a 99' TT600R Belgarda with 13000km on the clock.

A leaky float in the carb resovior could be making it f=run lean. Or the can is far more free flowing than the previous one. Previous owner may have put in different jets. Try the float.

Hi
I had my TTR 600 dynoed last week after it was running badley kept cutting out at low revs and also missfiring.
I got it to run better for a while by turning piolt air screw inn makes it leaner, but then the problem returned.
After being on the dyno the mechanic said it was very lean but could not get it to run any better by adjusting piolt screw so stripped and cleaned carbs. The bike is running better now. It was making 36 BHP which I thought was not very much but the shop also have an XT 600E which makes 33BHP on the same dyno.I have a CRD pipe and different cam so expected a bit more then 36 BHP.
As for your bike check that the engine breather which plugs into airbox is ok as if this comes off or splits you will be drawing more air through carbs making it run lean.

cheers guys,
ive had someone ride the bike who knows their stuff about singles and he reckons its running good(although we had a problem with it cutting out at low revs as well, fuel tank breather may have been blocked). I'm going to check the airbox breather and get a run on a different dyno.
On the same ride i snapped the kick starter boss half way up a welsh mountain! My extremely able guide managed to bump start it at about 30mph on a steep welsh trail! He jumped about 4 feet off the seat and hit it in third! Funniest thing i've seen for years, incredible..
Cheers for the advice

This seems to be normal with TT-R's. Always have a spare kickstarter mechanism in you pocket!
