TT500 yamaha for mostly road use

Hello,
After many years hauling various BMW twins around,i recently got a'77 TT500,californian import, which i would like to use mostly on our lovely irish country roads(Mostly Potholes, the odd flat piece, followed by moon-esque craters). It's already got lights, which arent up to much(no battery,so direct from generator, better off with a lit cigarette at low revs),indicators are'nt required, need to fit a speedo drive, cable, clock etc. Also Need to lower the gearing, the rear sprocket is the size of a dinner plate,Does anyone know if a chain and sprocket set for an XT500 is a straight fit?The Bike has a modified(external) oil flow to the cylinder head,Something done to the fork internals,Havent a clue what though.Lastly, does anyone have a good(preferably european based)source of spares/acessories for TT/XT yamahas.Any advice/info is greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks,
Joe

77 TT500 Yamaha

Hello from Montana USA. I recently bought a 77 TT500 Yamaha as well. I imediately put a 17 tooth countershaft sprocket on it to get some more speed. The front sprocket is the same from the XT to the TT. Great old bike and I am thinking of installing a self powered led type brake light made from a cheap flashlight/torch. What would be nice is to find a SR500 engine for the 12 volt electrics. Bill.
