tires
I need new tires for a 1990 xt 600. I ride 60 -70 % street rest dirt. A commuter bike with occasion some trail what do you recommend without breaking the bank ? Also good traction for the rain too.

I haven't tried the TC80 but I have IRC GP-110's on my '88 XT and really like them. They are unexpectedly cheap for what you get, so far over 1000miles on them and it looks like they will go 3-4k more easily. I have even been running them this winter so far and doing ok. I have not played in the mud or slop though so can comment there.

I have tried diffferent but for 70/30 riding nothing compares to TKC80, maybe not get long mileage but you can trust them in all condition. On normal road you dont feel that you have nub tire, cornering and wet condition is also good.

Have a look at the Heidenau K60 Scout tyres before you decide.

Another one I am getting set to mount on another bike is Dunlop Trail Max TR. They have good reviews and most are impressed with offroad trail grip for being such a street biased tire. I don't know yet where its limits are offroad but would thing the wet dirt/mud would be rough. I will see, I got the bigger size so I could get the radial version for winter time riding on patches of ice/snow. I do plan to keep this bike onroad mostly. Its the tire on the right. I have heard lots of good thing about the K60 Scouts. Some day I plan to have tried them all :smartass:
