The effects of overfilling oil?
 

My question is more to satisfy curiosity more than anything else. As the xt600 has a seperate oil reservoir from which the engine draws is it possible to overfill the oil as it would only be drawing a certain quantity and returning it to the oil tank. Wet sumps have the total quantity of oil circulating all the time. I guess my question relates to how far would u have to overfill an Xt600 before you caused problems and how severe may these problems be.

yes, you can overfill the engine.
excess oil will cause bad performance in high revs and will be blown to the air box where it soaks the filter and causes trouble in the carbs.
do not exceed 3 l.
