Tenere Spark Plug

Hi,has anybody any tips as to taking spark plug out on my 1986 1vj tenere? As in what size socket to use?The best way i can see is taking the petrol tank off!!

Just take the tank off, its much easier.

Thanks

thanks brian, lets hope i dont have to do that too often then!Lol.Is it a 14mm socket??Mick

I think it might be closer to 20mm. It is possible to take plug out with tank on but, easier with it off and less chance of droping a bit of muck down the hole, dont wanna be doing that!!

Spark plug size

The spark plug needs an 18mm deep socket. I think that removing the tank is the only was to get at it.

An extension with a swivel ball end will make removing the plug easier.

Hi
A quick tip before taking the plug out, get a small bit of pipe about 15" long (vacume pipe works best) and blow the dirt and small bits of grit that build up behind the back of the plug away, then undo the plug a few turns and repeat. A lot of crap builds up down there. Skip
