yes exhaust is part of the frame but for standard rider, no offroad and no overload you can easily go without strut. I'm going without from one year...

Youre right Martyn, I hadnt thought about that because Ive seen pics with a slip on exhaust and no strut there. I think it could start to bend if I'd drive with much overload. Im gonna think something to fill the gap there, so I dont need to worry. :funmeteryes:

By the way, here's a video I just put on youtube, where you can hear what the sound is like with this muffler.

Well got one on
I have used 2 inch OD dairy quality SS tube thinwalled - the exhaust gasket seal is a easy fit so I loaded it then slit the tube so it a clamp fit. The can was a race pipe off a mate for free, he had it on a gpz 600 the center was straight through so I made a center tube that just fit 2 inch down the inside of the perforated can inner capped that off drilled a 1 inch hole and inserted and welded a 1 inch OD thinwalled tube I capped that off and drilled 6 1/4 inch holes in it to let the gasses out. The can itself is only 4 inch diameter
The result is a only slightley noisier bike that has a better responce to a twist of the wrist,
I am very happy with the result at mo, off to try again to make double sure.
Just as a extra, whilst messin about with the exaust ( original) I found that drillind 6 1/4 inch holes in the end made it work nicer and only sounded a tadge noisier, see pic

If the exhaust port spacings are the same as an Xtz660 Ten then you could look out for an exhaust from an Mz Mastiff.

Stainless throughout, fits nicely under 660 panels, and gives a nice sound without being that much louder.

May take a bit of finding, but thats what is Ebay is for! Picked a full system up for £45 off a stolen/recovered bike.
