supermoto wheels
I'm also an XT600 onwer living in Norn Iron so am interested if you got somebody local to convert your wheels to accept sticky road tyres

what about ye? Yes i finished my supermoto conversion bout a year ago. The wheels were simple. I didn't go down the route of buying a new wheel set from talon or whoever. I bought the 17" wheel rims and got a man in Derriaghy, Belfast whos renowned for wheel lacing to fit them to the std yamaha hubs. Couple other things like the supermoto front fender, wrap around handguards and taper handlebars, to finish it off. I had a pic up somewhere on the site when nearing completion, but ill take another in the next day or two and post it up.

Both the new and older XT are very nice looking bikes!! I rally love SM conversions onsingles: they look great.
Personally, I would remove the gaiters on the forks, and I would fit full bar-end bush guards, too!! That said those are just preferences of mine. Digi-speedos: Trailtech Vapor. Got one for my SM XR 400. Hve yet to fit it, but its features are very impressive and the ambient temp guage is said to be the only let-down (5-10 degree inaccurate over-read due to nearby dash LED). Those bikes really do look like fun: ride safe once the elbow is sorted! |
took a couple pics today of my XT600e in supermoto trim. Im happy with how it looks and sounds. Just have to find a fix for the spongy forks. They dive badly under braking. Anyone recommend a simple solution like a particular spring?

1. get a whole new front end off a sports bike or a top end motocrosser with fully adjustable suspension. expensive and a pain in the arse to get right, not worth it, although you will gain good brakes.
2. you can get progressive springs, £50ish 3. you slug the originals, easy with a lathe 4. put in heavier oil. #3+4 work well, are cheapest and equal with #2 for simplicity, #1 not worth the hassle |

im from Dromore co down. The guy charges £60 per wheel to lace them up. And for that, i left him the complete std wheels and the new rims, he broke them down, made new spokes and laced them up. Great job.

How about a set of TZR250 wheels
Will they work ( 86 XT600 ) .along with a rear disc conversion

i have heard that gs500 wheels fit??? but i cant find any info on this, i want to buy a set, so i can keep my factory wheels as well? i wish i knew if they were fittable??? i dont own a lathe, but i can have some different bushings made if thats all it is to it?
