Speedometer on XTZ660 Tenere (2008)

Hi all,

Does anybody know how to switch the speedometer on an XTZ660 Tenere (model 2008) from miles to kilometers?

I just brought a (gorgeous) used Tenere back from the UK for a 7-month trip to South-America starting in January. I discovered that I need to change the speed display to register the bike in Belgium before I leave. I tried to play with the display buttons but was not able to change the default setting. Local dealer cannot help either. I would hate to have to change the whole piece :(

Thanks!

the aftermarket dash displays i have used on my bikes are reset by holding down both buttons whilst turning the power on. but i doubt the yamaha factory kit is that user friendly :(

I couldn't figure it out either, followed instructions in manual but that was a waste of time. good luck. Andy B

what works??? was it the pressing of both buttons while powering up????

Exactly. Press the 2 buttons while turning the engine on and the miles indicator will start twinkeling. Both the speedometer and the total mileage of the bike can then be displayed in kilometers.

blimey that was a good guess on my part :rolleyes2: but it does make sense that the programing on the factory stuff is the same as aftermarket kit :cool4:

this is the sort of info the dealers dont want us to know about so they can charge a fortune to sort out

Unfortunately not all the dealers know how to do it. When I picked up my Ten the dealer looked in the manual as it was set to KPH. Unfortunately whoever wrote the manual didn't know how to do it either as the instructions in the manual are wrong.

i hope you got a good discount on the bike to make up for that one :cool4: i'd be checking their quality of work on the pdi just incase they didn't tighten everything up properly :rolleyes2:
