silencer and tail tidy

A friend has a Blueflame race silencer he no longer needs as he sold his bike.
Apparently it is road legal and the baffles can be removed (not road legal) by way of a circlip.

At the moment I removed the snorkel, kedo/devil big bore headers and a piperx foam filter but have a road legal restrictive marving silencer, would the blueflame race silencer improve performance on my bike when the baffles are removed by 1bhp or so?

Also I want to keep my rear light and indicators but would like a tail tidy for the number plate, I think they look neater and less obvious that the original.
Can anyone recommend one? I know wolf zero has one but I have a 4pt so it may not fit.

Hi,

The answer to your question must be why?, all the mods to the induction system will maybe result in improved airflow through the carb(and loads of induction roar) which would also possibly need the main jets fiddled with, increased engine wear is another factor with foam type filters.Power gain would be minimal as the single piston big bore motor on these bikes was never designed for high horsepower outputs, to achieve a lot of extra power major mods are required to camshaft and valves etc. As to the exhaust system the original system is a heavy affair but at the end of the day does the job as well as a ss end can.Replacing the front pipes with stainless ones is a good mod due to the rust factor of the originals. a noisy exhaust on long runs can get a bit annoying, also the increased noise may give the indication of more power, the actual gain being very small. What should be remembered about exhuasts in general is the actual exhuast ports on the cylinder head are a certain size and increasing the diameter of exhaust tubing above a certain size will have no effect at all on the gas flow co-efficient, hence rally cars etc do not have the huge rear pipes and silencers you see on the local boy racer cars.
