Not quite over yet, how much $

Yeah, I agree re:Ohlins support. I was actually surprised they answered me seeing as this is an old shock/bike and I was not even buying it from them or one of their suppliers. They went up a notch in my scale.
The game is not quite over yet. I'll post here what the final cost was after I get the rebuild back and how it holds up after I get it in. If the local guys can't do a decent job I'll drop it in Singapore as I pass through in a couple months. Anyway I slice it, I had good luck so far, like finding one, still connected to the dog bones , with a good rubber protector too!
Cheers

Ohlins for $65. USD and some work

Got the Ohlins rebuilt locally for $40.00 USD, and the bike shop owner charged me $25.00 for the dead one. So $65.00 and the deal is done, plus 2-3 hours to get the old one out and new one in and adjusted. I'm donating the old one (original) back to the shop, the dead parts bin, so if any XT traveller passes through and needs an original that is not too bad, and wants to try to rebuild it, they have one to work with. Looking at the original it looks to be rebuildable with a top notched to take it apart.
