Second Battery gone! New replacement?

Reassurance needed please!

Despite leaving both my batteries wired up to my Datatool conditioner, both batteries have failed in less than a week of each other. The Datatool seems to be working fine (all the lights work) lol. I tried to charge a mates battery a few months ago and he told me the datatool didn't put anything in it. I wonder if it's knackered?

Last week I put a new "Odessey" gel battery on my 1999 XT6E at a cost of over £100! I fear this may have been wasted money because the bike is only used for light road work. It's reassuring to know it's got something in reserve should extra amps be needed.

This week my other battery on the 2001 XT started playing up. Typical...

This time I have gone for "middle of the road" - YUASA YTX9 - BS

I presume this one is likely to serve me well? If anyone knows I'd be obliged...

I paid £40 delivered to my front door which seems pretty good to me.

Not sure why it comes with a filling kit, I thought these things were sealed gel batteries? I propose to attach it to my Datatool Battery conditioner, I presume this will top it up okay as well keep it maintained in the winter?

I have been running that battery for about 2 years, check the regulator, whenever i have issues its usually at the regulator plug.

The poorly battery trouble I've had always tracked back to the regulator/rectifier (both times killed by jump-starting from a running car - there's a lesson there somewhere...)

If you've had trouble across two bikes with similar usage where the common factor is the battery-tending thing (i.e. you've not done anything to hurt either's electrics), I would start to suspect the battery tender! Especially if it's had trouble with a mate's battery!

I'd certainly pause before connecting it up to another £140+ of battery! Dunno what you could do to check it's working though.

Other than that though, Yuasa are a pretty reputable battery maker. Mine's been grand over the last couple of years.
