Replacement Seats

I am now looking for a replacement seat for my VJ1. I know people keep telling me to take off my seat cover and cut out some foam then replace it with some harder stuff.

BUT,

I would prefer to do things a little more tidily if I could. Are there any dedicated dual sport replacement seats? Has anyone tried the equigel pads used by horse riders?

Or is the cut and replace job really good enough?

Ta for the help..

Hi Dave,

I took my AT seat (notorious for it's comfort) to Gerd Jungbluht (www.motorrad-sitzbaenke.de) in Germany.
He changed it, made it wider and put in a gel-pack. He told me that if I was not 100% satischfied I should tell him.
After a few weeks of testing I was not totally happy, I phoned him and he told me to come back.
He started all over again, made it a bit hihger in front and a bit lower at the rear and .. yes he did.. told me: if it was not 100%, I had to come back again. (ofcourse all free of charge)

I am happy. Comfort has increased dramaticly... and it looks good.

The big advantage is: he make the seat as you wish... higher, lower, just as you need it becourse no tone person is the same.

hi dave,

Having made 10 bazillion phone calls and spent what seems like eternities on the internet I have found a really great company who seem prepared to sort out seats to your exact specifications. They need a seat base from you, but then ask for your input to complete the seat. They are working with me at the moment to produce a dual sport seat incorporating a gel pad. They havn't quoted me a cost yet but rumblings suggest a figure around £150. Not at all bad IF the jobs a good un'.

They have a web site if you need to contact them. Just search for their name..

Good luck

Ooops....

Sorry! forgot to post the name!!!

The company is called veadki and all you have to do is use google.co.uk to search for the name in the uk only. Its the first match. If you do use them please tell them I gave you the name. They MAY give me a discount and I need all the cash I can save, this Tenere preperation isnt cheap!!!

i got my gsx seat reshaped by bumwraps in bognor regis, a dual height, shaped to my spec sports seat, for £120.this was using my existing seatpad.they charged me extra for;
multi peice seat cover(in my choice of vinyl)
foam work
different foam densities
some fancy piping on the cover
so i think a simple shaped traily`slab` type seat would be pretty cheap.

i just tore a page from the corbin catalogue and said `make me that` and they did.for 1/3 the price.
