First of all, lots of thanks go to the guys that have sent me the manual (i am not familiar with legislation in your countries, etc, so that`s why i`m not mentioning your names) .
Thank you very much for sending me the manual.
I owe you some beers for the gesture and give me a sign if you evere decide to come to Romania.

But, because there is a BUT...the problem is that i already had it :laugh:.
i was hoping you guys have a REPAIR manual not a MAINTENANCE manual.
So, let`s talk about a little bit about 3 AJ manuals for the last time:

I have these 2 ones :

- The ones i received from you - the Maintenance manual :

- I also have this French REPAIR manual, which is quite good, but not a Haynes (to make a comparison)

- Whenever i want i can order and have it home in few days this manual - is the German REPAIR manual. I haven`t done this step yet because i don`t understand german very well. Perhaps i`ll go for it as it is 25 euros and at least i`ll have the correct technical infos.

From time to time i also use a Tenere 1 VJ very complete repair manual (Spanish one, found on the Brazilian XT Forum), but i can`t and don`t put all my money on techinical data for 1VJ and not 3AJ.
So, if any of you has other repair manual, please give me a sign.
Next month i think i`ll go for the German book and if i do i`ll announce you here.
Whoever needs the French one give me a sign at any of the e-mail adresses written upper. It used to be on the internet on some French pages but i checked few seconds ago and it isn`t there anymore.

Thanks for sending me the manual, I only got back to my inbox now. In the meantime, I found the owner's manual of the 3aj and the workshop manual of the 1vj + 3aj add on, but it's in German. If you want it, drop me a line, but beware its like 500mb.

Today i received home from Germany the Tenere 3 AJ GERMAN repair manual.
Includes all Teneres and XT models from 1983 to 1990.
Lots of pictures, all the exploded views and all the cotations (=dimensions. Did i write it correctly?)
So... need to tell you more?

I have just acquired a Yamaha XT600z 3aj which was last on the road in 1996. I have followed a number of posts and trails to try to find a workshop manual for this machine - if anyone on this site could help I would be really gratefull thanks.

Hey guys - a big thank you to Euan Geraghty and Osmund Sollie who both sent me copies of the manual! Cheers guys.

Whilst everyone is feeling so helpful, could I ask if anyone has a view on the best place to get spare parts for the 3aj model? I have seen Wemoto does a number, but my searches so far have not really brought me to somewhere which seems to have the bulk of the parts.

Is it a question of just building up a suppliers list ie carburetter parts from A, suspension parts from B, bodywork and electrics from c etc?

Just purchased a Tenere 3AJ for restoration .Have managed to download an owners handbook and a service manual. Is there a detailed workshop manual that gives greater details and if so does anybody have a copy they could mail or link to.

I first purchased a Clymer manual for my 86 XT600. Seemed ok at first until I got into things a bit deeper. The ignition system ohm readings are close on some but way off on another as they have you read the wrong wires. I've found other errors as well.

I finally acquired a paper Factory Yamaha manual for my series of bike. All the info so far has been spot on. Ignition coil reading a bit different but my working coils are 30 years old too. I found the explanation of how the carbs work to be invaluable. Nothing at all in the Clymer manual about he decel valve on the carbs and how it works. While I still have the Clymer manual, I reach for the "GOOD" manual first.

If you have the factory Yamaha for your bike, you should have the best available. If you have questions, ask as there are some pretty knowledgeable and helpful folks here.

Yes I have the service manual - it sounds as though I have all there is. I was just wondering if there was a detailed workshop manual - a bit like a Haynes manual for numpties like myself. I have a Triumph TR6 (car) and the Triumph workshop manual is brilliant - specs, diagrams and very detailed instructions, makes life easier

I still wouldn't mind a wiring diagram - my downloads did not include one

hi everybody!
new to his forum and fairly new to the motorcycle world (except for the old tomos apn6 which i had since i was little boy).

so i bought myself my first motorcycle and am trying to get a hang of it (get it to work basically)
it is xt600 3 aj on 1vj frame.. thats what i managed to figure out so far.
the plastics and lightd are also from 3vj and dont fit.
so i'm just trying to wrap my head around this bike... i could've take it back to the seller but i just kind of fell in love with it and would like to repair it.
do anyone know what are the questions which i should ask myself that would help me with this project... which answers i need...
so u figured out with a coulple of friends that spark is ok, compression to...
i took it for a ride... it worked... then when i turd it of it would start agan.. only after 10 min + of kick starting it it would work agan etc....

so any advice well appreciated! :D
sorry for the rambling but i am really excited about this (my first bought) bike :D

also if anybody can send me a copy of repair manual that would be great!

Sorry to bump up this. Yesterday I bought a 3aj and it has a bad side stand switch contact, but everything ran well if it stayed alive in gears. After several hours happy run it started cutting off fire intermittently. So I suppose the side stand switch is the first I have to pay attention.

I have searched the internet and found it's quite difficult to have English version 3aj service manual. The only luck is I found people here are discussing and sharing it. :)

I would be more than happy if you could do me a big help on the service manual and parts list :helpsmilie:
