Remus free ride fitting

Hi to one and all,
first post here,

i have a 2003 xt600E about 7500miles for which i have a Remus ally free ride slip on pipe, now im not a complete novice when it comes to spannering but can't work out where the carbon strap to support the silencer is supposed to attach to. as when the pipe is slipped onto the headers and the lower frame/link pipe is screwed onto the frame the strap fixing point is way out:confused1:
The part number for the pipe is DJ02 9102 994101 XT600ab from 01.
Has any one here have one of these and could post a pic. thanks in advance

It should attach around the exhaust and fit on the screw-hole(LOol) that is behind the right hand side seat fairing!

Hi Mate ,

I work for Remus Exhaust Australia and i have fitted a freeride stainless slip on muffler to my XT 600E. Its a very easy installation as follows ,

Remove Side Cover and Seat , loosen the muffler clamp fitted to the OEM muffler that secures the header remove the 2 frame mounted bolts that secure the muffler to the bike.

Slide the factory muffler off the OEM , i had to use a screwdriver and mallet to remove it .

To install is easy all harware comes with the Remus muffler slide the new remus pipe over the factory header do not tighten , grab the carbon fibre clamp and bolt it to the factory mounting point that is closest to the side cover NOT the one near the fear fender . secure the muffler to this mounting point and tighten then tighten the muffler connecting tube to the factory header with the sluppied allen key .

Ride the bike for approx 100 klm and re torque the allen key bolt .

The carbon fibre strap is very difficult to get on i found bye using a longer bolt and holding the muffler up into position it clamps up . It takes a bit of patience but you can get it on.

Hi Caspaflip,

Thanks you your reply,
as you say i will have to persevere with attaching the carbon strap, the first few steps are very strait forward and the OE pipe came off with no bother at all and the new pipe slips into place, its just looks like the carbon bit was made for another bike LOL.as it is brand new i did'nt want to force fit anything in case it had to go back to the supplier. will have another go when its not so darn cold outside,

Thanks again :thumbup1:

Hi bacardi23

as you rightly point out it "should" attach into the screw hole lol, Remus have a very good reputaion for good fit and finish so when something is clearly not quite right as in this instance you ask the question before going
hammer and tongs at it :innocent:
