rear drum brake lining

Hi,

does anyone know if its possible to get a new lining put into the hub of a rear wheel with drum brake. I dont mean the shoes, but the inner surface of the hub they work on. Mine has gone 'oval' which gives a pulsing on the rear pedal under braking. I did think of having it ground out, but this would leave too great a distance for the shoes to travel to make contact.

thanks

I doubt you can repair an ovated rear hub with out machining it out the old insert if it had one and replacing hot . But that would be a high temp operation only done by a specialist and would probably me stripping the rear wheel don. I would either live with it and change the shoes or if it is an MOT problem get a replacement hub either new or preferably 2nd hand and get the wheel rebuilt. On e bay at the mo is a rear wheel with a thumped rim that should do the trick the guy want £20 for it. Search under XT600 Breaking.

You could try parts finder other wise.

Good luck

Charlie

Thanks for that charlie, I wasn't sure about the construction of the hub lining. You are right that its going to be easier to replace it, so I'll start trying to source a second hand wheel/hub ...

cheers
