Question: What spares?
Hi Folks,
Very new to offroad and my '97 Tenere. Looking at a major O.S trip India/Nepal/Tibet, and obviously spares are hard to come by there. What spares should I consider taking with me? What parts traditionally break quickest from hard riding? I'm thinking there are obvious, small things; brake levers, lights, etc. What are the show-stopper parts that are worth carrying the extra weight for? Tamas. |
spares
1) have a service (saying SERVICE, not user) manual available, maybe u will not bring it printed with you (a usb stick could be ok) and leave a printed copy to a friend you can reach by phone, he will be able to read for you or fax it something in case of no PC available. You can bring with you printed only few main pages (electrical wiring, and some spare parts codes
same strategy could be used for spare parts, best thing would be find some used parts for cheap, being sure to have them tested before to leave. You could leave some parts to a friend, that will be able to deliver them to you if needed, and bring with you the smaller\lighter ones: generator CDI only if you find cheap ignition coil rear left&right spokes & nipples front spokes & nipples install a new chain set before to leave, and keep the chain clean and lubricated install offroad reinforced tubes spare air filter this is what i can figure now |
