Pegs for a bigfoot (size 14) - any recommendations?

Sooo, the tiny little man-boy pegs on my new/old 91 XT600E are not exactly inspiring confidence with my new size 14 Fox Comp 5's, so I am looking for something with more surface area. Being new to the dual sport/actually fitting things to my bike game I am in the dark about which pegs will be compatible with the old girl.

I am currently looking at Pivot Pegz or Roc Stompa's (both Aussie brands, so local) but they obviously don't make them specifically for 20 year old bikes.

Has anyone had experience with these or other brands of pegs for those of us with flippers for feet?

Cheers

Matt

I've heard that TW200 pegs would fit, i bought some from a YZ something, and gave them with an angle grinder =)

Double Supercool 15 Apr 2010 23:14

I heard that as well, like these ones?:

I don't have an angle grinder though, might have to ask around.

Just take your pegs to a local fabricator and have them weld on another 10 sizes :D:D

TW200 pegs do fit

I just bought some TW200 pegs from a seller in Hong Kong, shipped to the UK and they still only cost £12. They went straight on my 2003 XT600E without a problem. I had previously bought some YZF ones (from the same seller) and could have made them fit by re-shaping them slightly with an angle grinder as mentioned above and drilling out the hole in the footpeg hangers to match the holes in the pegs.

The TW200 ones are definitley recommended, much more comfy when standing - and I'm only size 11 !!

Regards - Alastair.

Fastway F3 best pegs I've ever owned, very stable while standing.

£12 sounds good to me - any chance of a link to where you got them?

thanks - Drew

TW200 pegs on ebay

Hi there, this is the link to the auction that I bought them in.

Black Steel Foot Pegs For Yamaha PW 50 80 TW 200 on eBay (end time 19-Apr-10 19:00:13 BST)

This seller has 4 different shops with different names but the ads all look exactly the same. I still can't quite believe they were only £12 with free postage from Hong Kong!

Regards - Alastair.

Hypographamist 17 Apr 2010 20:26

Good one - I'll have a set of those even though my plates
are size 9 !

Double Supercool 18 Apr 2010 09:28

Yarp, we have those here as well AUD$20. I hate using PayPayl for, well, pretty much everything but I guess you can't go too far wrong for 20 bucks. Obviously you can, but let's not think about that at the moment!

So I ordered a set of these yesterday but received an email this morning advising me that delivery might be delayed due to a volcano! Just as well I'm in no rush for them.

bacardi23 20 Apr 2010 09:24

Yeah.. huge volcano ashes covering EU air space....today it has reached the NW of my island....Santa Maria - Azores... :\ in a couple of hours I'ma call my folks when they wake up and ask them if they can see anything....wish I could...

I picked up a set of these for a WR/YZ426 a few weeks ago and had to remove just a little material for them to fit with said angle grinder. They have three times the surface area of the stock pegs. I have had to learn to move my foot a bit farther back on the kick starter with a size ten boot - tried to remove my toes when the bike went dead at a traffic light as they caught on the new pegs

I have a pair of these on their way over.
They do seem very pushy about the feedback they want left, detailed instructions etc :)

Can anyone recommend a bigger rear brake pedal/lever?
I find the stock one too small and my boots are getting burnt from the engine casing :)

Mine arrived today and will probably be fitted by/on the weekend. It was despatched on the 20th, so not a bad wait really, considering the distance and the disruption to flights. Comments on usage to follow.

03xt600e: Find a guy who can weld a little extra aterial to you're stock brake lever.

kentbiker 2 May 2010 22:30

I've fitted mine now

2 Attachment(s)
The large pegs from Hong Kong are now on the bike and the difference is amazing. Considering they're over twice the size (40sq cm compared to 19.5 sq cm), I suppose it's no surprise. Here's a couple of pics to show the difference.

The first one shows my size 11 foot on the old peg.

This one is my foot on the new one.
Attachment 3259

I went out on the bike yesterday and it is much more comfortable. Well worth £11.99!

That's a good idea jens.

My new pags arrived today, they fit straight on and are so much better that stock ones.
Thanks for whoever provided that ebay link cos I have seen some much more expensive footrests elsewhere.

Also got my 54 tooth rear sprocket fitted and love it, pulls uphill fantastic in every gear.

acertainalias 7 May 2010 21:55

You're welcome, those pegs seem to have been a big hit !!

Alastair.

Motorbike Pig Freak 9 May 2010 23:25

After reading this thread, I used the link and bought a set myself, fitted them last week, they slotted straight in, cost next to nothing and are brilliant!
They are so much more comfortable, so a big thank you to whoever set me up with them.

Double Supercool 10 May 2010 10:02

Just got my two sets this evening (one for backup) so I will put 'em on during the week. I have been tempted to buy them off eBay for a while, but was hesitant without hearing someones experiences.

AUD$42 for two sets delivered. Nice.

Double Supercool 15 May 2010 10:16

Dang, I am having trouble lining up the bolt back through the spring and out the other side. Anyone have any tips or techniques for getting all the holes to line up? (that's what she said ;)

bacardi23 15 May 2010 12:09

Little flat head screwdriver!
The ones used for watch repairs are great for it!

Got them on with a mate's help this morning. Man, what a difference they make. We went for a 160km bush ride today and I felt a *lot* more stable.

For anyone interested, here is the difference in surface area:

guzzibob 18 May 2010 22:59

Pity whoever posted this tip isn't on commission - I bought a set for my 1VJ Tenere, then as soon as 2 mates saw them, they ordered them too! Highly recommended, especially for the price. I just had to drill one small hole in one peg for the spring to engage with, otherwise perfect.
My only concern is that they look to be cast rather than forged like the old ones. Anyone bashed one hard on a rock/road yet? How did it stand up to the abuse?

acertainalias 19 May 2010 18:44

Just glad that a few others now have comfy pegs to stand on too !!

I noticed that too and is probably why they're so cheap. Just don't throw the old ones away!:nono:
