Ok so i got engine out and inspected cam chain 1983 xt 550
 

Ok so i finally got the engine out and head off cam chain has so much slack with the tensioner out that i can almost push the chain together when they are both on sprockets. Can almost pull chain off cam sprocket with ease it looks to be very loose. Hope this solves my ticking at idle as everything else looks good. Thank you for your hlp guys.
