Oil tank cap on XT600Z

Hi everyone,

My oil cap melted (yes!), oil is leaking all over my engine, and so I have to get a new one.

I'm in Uganda and it turns out they are very difficult to find. I also looked online on ebay etc and didn't find any.

Is there some other oil cap that'll fit my Yamaha Tenere XT600Z (3AJ) ?
Or some other way to fix the problem?

Thanks!
Manu

Oil in frame right? I think they all use the same "cap" for that model. Ebay has oil temp gauges for the oil in frame models, might be something to consider. I use it on mine.

If everything else fails, I'll give you my stock one....just need money for shipping as its kinda steep from Denmark.

3AJ Jens (oil in side tank) they are rare seconhand & expensive brand new.

As the part number implies it started with the previous Tenere (the 1VJ) so look for 1VJ & 3AJ dipsticks, those caps only fit them bikes (no other Tenere`s or XT`s)

I guess a hack-solution could be to get a nut welded on top of the container, and use a bolt suited for the nut, as a cap. You'd loose the dipstick, but it should get you by. :)
