New alarm instalation
 

Hi All

Have just purchased an alarm for my 97 XTZ 660. Have got it fitted and working (to an extent) but the alarm has an automatic start/stop feature where i can start the bike while off of it, but the two wires that i presume make this happen are a bit of a mystery to me. They are described as a) flame out wire - end of wiring harness, and b) flame out wire - end of main switch. The corresponding wires on my bike where i attach these are black/white for both according to the instalation guide but the only black/white wire on my bike is in the main harness and goes nowhere near the main switch. Or am i reading this all wrong??? As i say the rest of the alarm is fitted and working, ie, it arms, the led blinks, it sounds when touched and i can turn it off. Also i have attached the engine start wire so that when i push the start button on the remote the bike clicks on for a sec, then clicks off with nothing happening, obviously i have to fit these two wires somewhere. Near and roundabouts the ignition coil or somewhere i presume. I fitted some heated grips the other day and they work fine from the ignition positive so i have a little bit of an idea what im doing but flame out has confused me.

Any advise or is very welcome. Thanks for looking.

Personally, I would not use a remote start on a bike. I don't want the thing running unless I am standing next to it or sitting on it.

Having said that...
Have you looked at the safety interlocks; sidestand, clutch, neutral, that prevent the bike from starting in gear or riding with the stand down?

I dont think they are an issue at the moment, need to find out where those two wires are supposed to connect to.....
