in need of one single rear spoke XT600

Hi,
Well I failed my MVI for the second time this year... this time it was two spokes that were loose. We managed to tighten one but the second one broke so I need a new one. They only come in set. Does anyone have some leftover from a set? (I was told the sets come with 4 spare ones)
If so, please let me know if you would want to sell one and ship to me. A new set is not really pricey but it is 4 weeks away.
The bike is a 1989 XT600. it has the 18in rear wheel.
Also, if I end up getting a whole set, should I just replace them all one by one? Is it a hard job?
Thanks
David

if you are starting to have broken spokes, then changing all of them is a good idea. but if you dont have experience doing it, not exactly a task for beginners, youtube is your firend...

getting a wheel spoked right is a beautiful art.

sounds like you are in uk, so give a try at Central Wheel, they might have your dimensions off the shelf

buy 10 of them, just in case....

Thanks, I just placed the order for a kit.
I suppose I will learn how to do it right pretty soon :)
Cheers

ok, remeber to measure BEFORE dismantling your rim the offset. place a long ruler on the brake disc and measure distance of rim to the edge of ruler, this is critical to get the wheel in the center of the bike. wheel are not always simmetrical

I’ve respoked a few wheels over the years and taught myself to do it by trial and error. It’s not that hard but you do need to take your time and approach it logically.

Take lots of ‘before’ pictures so you can remember how the spoke arrangement went before you took it all apart and as TG says measure the hub to rim offset (if any). I made a wooden stand to support the hub and you can use the side arms to measure the run out. It’ll take 3-4 hrs to do it but lay off the beer until you’ve finished
