Modifying the front fender on my XT

Has anyone modified their front fender? I was told that I could put a low fender like some of the Tenere's have and that it would stabilize better at high speeds. I have already cut it and made it shorter, it looks like a Motard now.

And you would fasten it how? The XT600s don't have any threaded points to bolt anything to. You could get a universal "supersport" fender that has two straps (for fastening to the fork legs) - I have seen some KLR650 owners that did that. But you still have that big gap between the low fender and the high headlight. I had a universal low-mount on for a while but ended putting on an Acerbis Supermoto on instead. Much stiffer than the OEM flapper and looks more modern. Plus it comes in a variety of colors without painting.

Zap,

I know that the Acerbis Supermoto fender is a universal fitting and that you need first to drill some holes to suit your bike, but how is it actually attached to the forks?

Thanks.

acerbis

Acerbis supermoto fender uses the same four screws of original fender, under lower yoke.

You can get the UFO front mudguard for the YZ125 and put it on the XT600....That's what I have on my XT600E and it is alot more rigid than the stock front fender of the XT
