Maximum sustained RPM

I own a 1995 Xt600 with the 3AJ engine. Here in australia I cover pretty large distances. I am just wondering what RPM this engine can sustain without accelerating normal wear. Also does the ambient temperature have a large impact on this sustainable RPM??

Thanx

travel rpm of about 4500 is o.k.
i wouldn't use 5th gear below 4000.
but keep an eye on the oil temperature. it shouldn't exceed 120 °C (i heard australia can be pretty hot sometimes ;-).
since the 3TB isn't equipped with an oil cooler, it might be a good idea to fit one. can reduce the oil temperature up to 20 °C.

Thanks

Yeah seems to equal about 120km/h and i'm pretty sure my bike has original sprockets.

hi!

I am looking at a 97 model XT600 with 30.000km and good general look for 2500 Euros.

What do you guys think? Is this a good price??

I will drive 50 Km every day plus 400km (hiway) on the weekends allways commuting. Also I will use the moto for some holiday travelling (here in portugal, morocco, etc...)
Do you think that the XT will handle this treatment for some 4 years or shall I think of something bigger (bmw, transalp, etc??)
