Leaking Oil

I have not so long ago had my 1VJs engine rebuilt and after 2000Kms I have an oil leak. At the moment I am not in a position to remove the tank and have a proper look as I am away from home. It seems that it may be coming from when the rev cable enters the head. (I can't see too clearly with the tank on) I am checking the oil levels regularly to ensure the bike doesn't run dry however the level does not seem to fluctuate. I am checking the oil level with the bike running at normal running temperatures (after 15mins riding) then with it running in an upright position. Has anybody also experienced this problem or does somebody know of a cause for this leak. I was wondering if I had maybe overfilled the oil and it was pushing the oil out through the airbox intakes, however I am thinking that this is unlikely. Any suggestions?

Thanks

It is definitely possible to overfill so that oil comes out of the airbox. You would see oil at the back of the cylinder.
If it comes from the rev-counter drive it can be the O-ring.
Or maybe the cylinder head cover was not properly sealed. I had the same. Was very hard to see where the oil came from.

I have now solved this leak and narrowed the leak down to the rev counter drive O-ring. I have replaced this O-ring and used gasket sealer to seal the rev counter drive when fitting back into the cylinder head. I have now done just over 200KMs and so far no sign of any leaks.

Happy Days!
