Laser ProDuro and 2KF

Hello to you all!

I'm planing to get a Laser ProDuro for my XT600 2KF. Have any of you done this? I would be pleased to hear your comments.

Hi

If you have a rear diskbrake than dont buy a Laser. The Produro is made for drumbrake type XT's and with diskbrakes the exhaust can hit the brake and damage it.
You can modify the exhaust, but buying an other type is probably the easiest way.

On the other hand I have a Produro on my 3AJ (didn't know about the brake problem when I bought it:-) and the bike run excellent with it. But the brake already made a big dent in the exhaust.... And when you ride through the winter its difficult to keep it shiny.

I modified mine with a brake caliper - use a hammer, it's better http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif

I bought a Full set of down pipes and silencer from Gazelle/Gaz Bikes - Gaz Bike Website is here

It it for my XTZ but they will make them for anything - espescially if you want something special or need to be careful of brakes etc. If you can get your bike to them then they will build it to fit!

Well worth the effort!

Hello Tony, I'm very curious to know the price and the dyno results of your pipe.
I assume you have a 660?
Do you have any other mods to your bike?

Hi FredXTZ

The exhuast cost me about £360 including delivery to the other end of the UK. It took them about 2 weeks to make it. The downpipes (Stainless steel aswell) are made by somebody else and but they are designed to fit onto standard set of pipes or silencers. I have some photos if you are interested in details.

I haven't had the bike on a dyno - before or after - since owning it I've done all the work myself - apart from removing the exhaust studs when replacing the system - so it hasn't been to a garage.

Other mods - had a rack built to take the touratech zega cases.. based on buying a pair of touratech hoops and getting it welded up. Showed my local friendly welder a few pictures, pointed out where I wanted it attached and one week later and £80 GBP out of my pocket I had a very good rack. Mounted the cases using the Touratech plactics kits - very easy and efficient.

I'm wanting to put on a set of engine bars and a centre stand. These things are so heavy for working on... I've looked at different type and seem to be inclined towards getting both from FiveStar. The only other looks good is the Hepcko and Becker one.

Problem is availability - riderhaus.com is about the only place to import them and I've heard of 3 month delays!

Have you got any of these? if so where from.

What other mods have you made to your XTZ?

Later,

Tony.

I don't put extra things onto my bike, I only remove [for weight loss]. Like the windscreen, the tool box and the alu carrier, the steering counterweights, the passenger footrests, the lifting eye under the engine, the mirrors, the indicators, the rubbers on the footrests, the muffler [replaced by Laser Produro with removed Db-killer], the air filter [replaced by K&N], the AVR [replaced by a big finned one], the downpipes [replaced by SS from Wunderlich].
Also changed the main jet of the 1st carb. from 130 to 122 and lifted the needle by 1 position. And took off 0,5 mm. of the cylinder head for deep sand riding.
And I have a steel braided front brake line.
You can see my bike on www.tenere.nl.
My center stand lives in the shed, it's a milk crate. For travelling I have a modified superlightweight aluminium kitchen broomstick to stick under the swingarm.
