KLR650 stator and RR retrofit on xt600
 

I was told cdi version pre 2007 KLR 650 stator will work on xt600 kicker. Parts got here now I’m wondering how to rewire it. Any help would be appreciated. The XT stator has 2 input wires new stator has 3. Will this work? I also have the klr regularor rectifier. How would I go about wiring it up???

no experience with this swap, but a stator that has three wires is three phase, two wires single phase, so sounds like you have to use also the klr rectifier


wiring is easy, the three wires from the stator (usually yellow or white) go to the row of three contacts in the R/R, the other contacts in the R/R are the output, +/- if you have two contacts, + if only one, then R/R body is the ground -

I have the KLR RR it has 6 cables the KLR stator has 5 wires. The old one on my XT has 5 cables on RR and the stator has 4.

5 and 6 are total wires. The one that has 6 wires has 3 yellow 1 red 1 black 1 brown. Old rectifier has 5 total 2 yellow 1 red 1 black 1 brown. I tried hooking it up leaving one yellow wire from reg rec off and it’s only getting 3v. I disconnect the brown wire and I’m getting 17+v sometimes reaches 20... so confused.

Is there a way I can wire triple phase rr to my single phase xt? The xt has 2 AC wires going to rr. I believe it has one separate coil just for the spark. Like right now I have the rr disconnected and it kicks over and starts fine. Here’s a pic of the new KLR stator.

im ok-ish with electrics but hard to answer that one, max voltage/current of the single phase could be higher and burn it?



a ebay chinese 1 phase rr shouldnt be expensive...

Correct RR should be coming in Sunday will update then. I have a feeling I’m going to plug in that RR and something is gonna be off.
