Jets for xt600 / xtz660

Does anyone know where I can get main and slow running jets for the Teikei carburettor as fitted to xt600's and xtz660's. The yamaha importer here in NZ doesnt list anything other than the standard sizes (I need larger sizes to tune the carbs for an aftermarket pipe). Are there Keihin or Mikuni jets that fit if I cant get Teikei jets?.

Thanks

Shaun

How do you know that you need bigger jets? The dynojet test showed that my XTZ660 needed a smaller jet in the first carb after mounting an aftermarket exhaust. Plus lifting the needle by 1 position.

Fred,
reason I think it needs a larger slow running jet is because with the micron pipe it needs the idle mixture screw right out to get smooth running at low speed. I have stripped and cleaned the carb several times so am sure there isnt an obstruction in the passages that would be causing it to run lean.

Try Slipstream Tuning in Kent, UK. I think they've specialised in tuning big singles in the last few years. I bought different jets off them when fitting SRX carbs to an XT550 in 1996.

would it be a good idea to start another topic in HUBB where we can all list what exhausts we have, and what jets/needle positions we needed? that would be a good reference for others.

Thanks Steve, I have found their website - http://www.supermono.co.uk/slipstream/

They appear to have lots of tuning bits for xtz660's so I will try them for jets.

your yamaha-dealer should be able to order also other jets.
the trick with teikei (or mikuni) jets yamaha-order no. is that the last two digits of the order no. is the jet size divided by two.
so if you just take the order no. of the standard jet and replace the last two digits with the desired jet size divided by two, your dealer should be able to order this jet (if available).
biggest size for prim. carb main jet is #165 as far as i know.
a qualified yamaha-dealer should know this... ;-)
