Problem solved ,my mate had the pick up wires round the wrong way so when the secondary pulse came to kick in it just died.....simple ....over the moon as is it runs well,oil leak from output shaft so might need another seal,......then to rubuild the rest of it and see how it goes....bier

Right....fitted new seal to output shaft and took it for a ride round the block......over the moon,runs well and goes thru the gears sweet.....give it a handful and the front end lifts which I do not get on my 2002xt600......so a bit more tidying up,,new battery and then to run it in....like to thank my good mate dion moriarty for all the hours of work he put in helping me build the engine,strip and build the carb and for rewiring it too....could never have done it without him and a good driving force too......also I have to get it out of his woodpile where it has been stored for most of the year....top man.....owe him big beers...

its alive....but just relapsed...
 

So fully rebuilt engine....did about one hundred kms and the head has blown....will drop engine and investigate.....engine had Dave Lambert modified head bolts .....will let you know the outcome....:(
